10 Minute Interview

This week we had to interview a classmate for ten minutes and use that audio to edit a one to two minute clip telling a story.

I interviewed Johnathan mostly about women and his experience with an ex girlfriend and well it sounds like hes bruised and jaded. (Sorry J!)
Maybe he needs to rethink how he meets women and read a book on sexism or something.

Mic Challenge

Okay, so Imani and I worked with the dynamic microphone first. We decided to ask people to tell us about their favorite movies. That was surprisingly a harder question for people then we had anticipated. (Some people said they didn’t have a favorite movie. Who doesn’t have a favorite movie? ANYWAYS)

I realized when working with the dynamic that I was speaking too loud and too close to the microphone. But it was very handy in terms of being able to move it back and forth between me and the people I was asking questions too. I also kept forgetting that when I would reply to the person if I didn’t move the microphone back towards my face it sounded like I was much further away.

Our clip includes Rodney’s favorite chick flick and some guy who needed motivation to follow his fighting dreams.

NEXT we worked with the shot gun microphone and tried to record more isolated noises. It was hard to even figure out what isolated noises to record. In the end after trying many different options Imani walked about 5-6 feet away from me and recorded me whistling. (I admit that I am not a great whistler. Oh well.)

I noticed while we were fussing around trying to record things that the shotgun microphone was VERY sensitive to touch and we had to try to move it around softly and slowly which I’m sure made us look ridiculous.
